Oppression

Text by Frederick Douglass
The Confrontive compositions take quotes, sayings, texts, or phrases and overlays them with related or contrasting texts, giving the viewer competing messages and letting them decide how to reconcile the two. If viewed using anaglyphic (red/blue) glasses, the messages compete with one another. If viewed under alternating lights, the messages alternate. Each print is executed using the simplest of letterforms, minimized to create textured visual rhythms across the surface of the paper. Profits from the sale of this piece will be used to Black Lives Matter.
